The Houston Mariners Club (HMC) is a 503(c) not-for-profit organization that provides avenues for networking and continuing education in marine and energy insurance.
Since 1947, the Club has provided a venue for members to share ideas, become acquainted with industry peers, and promote business activities. The club also concentrates on providing members with continuing education classes to further their knowledge of industry standards and meet statutory requirements for applicable licenses in Texas.
An HMC meeting and/or activity is scheduled every month to give members opportunities to get together or continue their professional education. The Club endeavors to obtain continuing education credits from the State Bar of Texas and the Texas Department of Insurance for its courses. Topics covered are always related to marine and offshore energy insurance, which is part of the Club's mission, with course speakers who are experts in their respective fields.
In addition to educational opportunities, the Club also organizes social activities for the members. These include the occasional happy hour, along with the Club's "signature events." These include a golf tournament, a Christmas/Holiday party, a saltwater fishing tournament and a chili & barbeque cook-off. These social events give our members the opportunity to mingle with industry peers in an informal atmosphere, as well as have a little fun! The possibilities to make new acquaintances are endless in a Club with over 400 members . . . and counting!
The Houston Mariners Club also supports many local charities, with significant annual donations provided to the Houston International Seafarers' Center, the Kid's Unlimited Foundation, the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo Scholarship Fund and the Houston Maritime Museum. The Club also gives much needed assistance to the Houston Food Bank, The Salvation Army, the Star of Hope Mission., Wounded Warrior Project, and many other local charities.
We hope you consider joining us by becoming a member of our organization. 2011-12 Membership dues is just $50.00 a year.
We thank you for considering membership of the Houston Mariners Club and hope to see you at the next event!
